Each day we will be reading from the books of the Old Testament Law & Psalm, Old Testament Prophets, Old Testament Writings, and New Testament.
Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
Author: Moses wrote all five of these books.
Books: Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and the Twelve. Two things about this list demand attention. First, in modern Bibles, Samuel and Kings are broken into 1 and 2 Samuel and 1 and 2 Kings. Second, the books in the second half of the prophets are in a different order than in modern Bibles. They are the exact same books, however. The Twelve is the name of the collection of the twelve minor prophets (Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi). These twelve small books make up one larger book simply called "The Twelve."

Authors: Two of the books in this section were written by apostles (Matthew and John). Two of the books were written by Luke, one of Paul's helpers (Luke and Acts). Mark was written by a Christian named Mark. He probably relied on help from Peter when he wrote his book.
