{"id":4704,"date":"2024-10-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/reading-plan\/october-20\/"},"modified":"2025-07-19T06:39:28","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T11:39:28","slug":"october-20","status":"publish","type":"reading-plan","link":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/om\/reading-plan\/october-20\/","title":{"rendered":"October 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insight from Hebrews<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today the only people of God are those in Christ, and because Jesus represented Israel, even bearing the name, the church is now \u201cthe Israel of God\u201d (Gal. 6:16). The church does not replace Israel; she becomes Israel through identifying with the ultimate Israelite, Jesus. And every member of the church, whether Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female, now enjoys oneness in Christ and the full inheritance of all God promised to Abraham. The makeup of God\u2019s people moved from Adam, as God\u2019s son and head of all humanity, to Israel, as God\u2019s corporate son, to Jesus, as God\u2019s Son, who stands as the ultimate human and represents Israel and in whom all identified by faith become God\u2019s people. Christ is the \u201chead\u201d (i.e., authority) (Eph. 1:22), and the church is his \u201cbody\u201d (Rom. 12:5). He is the bridegroom, and the church, identified with the new Jerusalem, is his bride. God\u2019s people now are members of his household (Heb. 3:6).
