And &#8220;by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, [God] condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us&#8221; (Rom. 8:3\u20134). The kingdom is already here because Jesus came to earth to appease God\u2019s wrath against the sin of Israel and the world. Jesus is the Christ, the promised royal deliverer, who came \u201cto give his life as a ransom for many\u201d (Mark 10:45). He is \u201cthe Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world\u201d (John 1:29), and by his life, death, and resurrection he inaugurated the new cove\u00adnant (Luke 22:20; Heb. 9:15) and new creation (2 Cor. 5:17).
