Insight from Ezekiel 37<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLiving in the midst of exile, Ezekiel envisioned the fulfillment of Yahweh\u2019s Mosaic predictions of the people\u2019s resurrection. Whereas covenant obedience could have led to life (<\/span>Leviticus 18:5<\/span><\/a>; <\/span>Ezekiel 20:11<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>13<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>21<\/span><\/a>), Israel\u2019s covenant rebellion had resulted in the nation\u2019s exilic death, so that God portrays them as dried up bones filling a field (<\/span>Ezekiel 37:1<\/span><\/a>; cf. <\/span>Jeremiah 8:1\u20132<\/span><\/a>). Nevertheless, Yahweh promises, \u201cBehold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live\u201d (<\/span>Ezekiel 37:5<\/span><\/a>), and the result was that God resupplied them human form, breathed into them the breath of life, \u201cand they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army\u201d (<\/span>Ezekiel 37:10<\/span><\/a>). The vision anticipated how God would \u201craise you from your graves,\u201d putting \u201cmy Spirit within you,\u201d resulting in life and making his people his temple (<\/span>Ezekiel 37:13\u201314<\/span><\/a>; cf. <\/span>36:27<\/span><\/a>).
