We do not obey the Ten Commandments, for example, simply because Yahweh commanded them through Moses. Rather, each of the commandments guides us only through the lens of Christ, and every one gets focused through him. Even a command like \u2018you shall not commit adultery\u2019 (Matt. 5:27) gains a new <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pattern<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the life of Jesus and a new <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">power<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through his work. Jesus embodies for us a perfect example of what living out the law of Chrsit looks like in the way he treated women and controlled his own desires with the aid of the Spirit, and he secures power for our own pursuit of holiness through his blood-bought pardon (Rom. 8:10) and blood-bough promises (Rom. 8:32).
