One such promise that is deeply encouraging \u201c\u2018For I know the plans I have for you,\u2019 declares the Lord,\u2019 plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11). Through Jesus, these promises that Yahweh gave to old covenant Israel extend to the church\u2014not to any geopolitical people or territory but to the church. Because Jesus fully represents national Israel in every way and because no one inherits blessings apart from faith in Christ, all those adopted into Christ by faith receive all the benefits of being part of his family, whether Jew or Gentile.
