Every promise is truly ours already, but those we tangibly experience now are those related to God’s presence, favor, power, and pleasure as they come to us today by the Spirit of Christ. All other promises addressing more physical, material provision and protection are already ours truly, but they will be realized fully in space and time only at the consummation of the new heavens and new earth. Then we will receive our resurrection bodies, and there will be no more tears, death, mourning, crying, or pain. The psalmist declares, “With the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption” (Ps 130:7). In view of his character, God may still be pleased at any moment to bring our future hope into the present through a miraculous act of power. We must, therefore, continue to help others find relief from poverty and become self-sustaining (Ps. 41:1) and to pray that God would heal those sick and suffering, all for God’s glory and his kingdom’s advance. God is pleased to magnify his power, but he can do this either by removing the pain or by sustaining us through it. The Lord will bring relief according to his timetable, manner, and degree, but we can trust that he will work all things out for our good and that the day is coming when he will restore all things and when God’s people will never again hunger or thirst.

["post-4563","reading-plan","type-reading-plan","status-publish","hentry
["GET
