{"id":4562,"date":"2024-05-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/reading-plan\/may-3\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T10:11:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T15:11:22","slug":"may-3","status":"publish","type":"reading-plan","link":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/om\/reading-plan\/may-3\/","title":{"rendered":"May 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Insight from Psalms 40<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Psalm 40:4, in most English translations, celebrates the potential deeds of any person: \u201cBlessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!\u201d The [Hebrew text\u2019s verb forms used in verse four], however, signal this poem probably celebrates the blessedness of a specific man who trusted Yahweh and did not trust in a lie in the past. \u2026 The connection of the word [Blessed] to this particular man who resisted evil and did not turn to a lie strongly suggests this psalm refers to the eschatological age and to the man introduced in Ps 1:1.
