{"id":4499,"date":"2024-02-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/reading-plan\/february-15\/"},"modified":"2025-07-22T21:11:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-23T02:11:29","slug":"february-15","status":"publish","type":"reading-plan","link":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/om\/reading-plan\/february-15\/","title":{"rendered":"February 15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insight from Mark 4<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Mark 4, Jesus speaks God\u2019s words and commands the people \u201cto hear\u201d (the verb \u201cto hear\u201d appears 13 times in this chapter). \u201cTo hear\u201d means more than merely listening. It means listening to Jesus\u2019 word, loving the word that he has spoken, and obeying that word. To refuse to listen to Jesus is sin. It is sin because God the Father has raised Jesus up and has put his words in Jesus\u2019 mouth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jesus is the one who fulfills Moses\u2019 words in Deuteronomy 18: \u201cThe LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers\u2014it is to him you shall listen\u201d (Deuteronomy 18:15). The people of God were to wait for this prophet and were to, when he was raised up by God, eagerly listen to him. Jesus is like Moses because he sees God face-to-face (this was said of none of the other prophets in the Old Testament). To disobey Jesus is to disobey God the Father: \u201cI will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him\u201d (Deuteronomy 18:18-19).
