Following the flood, we learn that he would be a descendant of Shem (Gen. 9:26\u201327). Then, after having announced in Genesis 12:3 that Abraham would be the agent through whom the world would be blessed, Genesis 22:17b\u201318 detailed that the promised male deliverer would be in Abraham\u2019s line and that he would ultimately control enemy gates and bring worldwide blessing (cf. 24:60). We also learn in Genesis 49:8\u201310 that he would be a king in the line of Judah.\u201d \u2014 Jason DeRouchie, <em>How to Understand and Apply the Old Testament<\/em>, 371<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insight from Psalm 27:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn Ps 27, the king expresses his desire to live with Yahweh, and his confidence in his deliverance. Echoing Joshua, he calls the people, \u2018Be strong, and let your heart take courage\u2019 (27:14).
