Yet, the Bible, despite being written by multiple authors and addressing various subjects, is one grand metanarrative whose central message is about what our triune Creator-cove\u00adnant God planned in eternity and executed in time to glorify himself by redeeming his people, judging sin, and making all things new in Christ Jesus (Col. 1:15\u201320).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jason DeRouchie, <em>\u1260\u1265\u1209\u12ed \u12aa\u12f3\u1295 \u1218\u12f0\u1230\u1275<\/em>, xiii.<br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><br style=\"font-weight: 400;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The words \u201cthe whole world,\u201d \u201cbearing fruit,\u201d and \u201cincreasing\u201d in Col 1:6 are likely intended to remind the reader of God\u2019s words in Gen 1:28: \u201cAnd God blessed them. And God said to them, \u2018Be <strong>fruitful<\/strong> \u12a5\u1293 <strong>multiply<\/strong> \u12a5\u1293 <strong>fill the<\/strong> <strong>earth<\/strong> and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.\u2019\u201d Paul wants his readers to make a connection between God\u2019s words to people in Genesis 1 about bringing his image throughout the earth, and the fruitfulness of the gospel. Because of the death, burial, resurrection, and reign of Christ, God\u2019s mandate to humans is finally being fulfilled! \u00a0God\u2019s image is being spread throughout the entire earth! Paul also refers to the Colossian Christians <strong>bearing fruit<\/strong> \u12a5\u1293 <strong>increasing<\/strong> in 1:10.
