The latter elements relate to stage two, for all are features elsewhere associated with or directly secured by the royal Davidic servant (Isa 9:6\u20137; 11:1\u20132, 10; 49:3; 53:11; 61:1). Paul later drew on the promise of &#8216;offspring&#8217; release in Isa 43:5\u20136 and combined it with an allusion to the Davidic royal &#8216;seed&#8217; promise of 2 Sam 7:8, 14: &#8216;And I will be to you for a father and you will be to me for sons and daughters&#8217; (2 Cor 6:18).
