(1) <\/span><b>Proverbs are memorable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In order to remember well, we need information that is (1) <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">understandable<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in our language, (b) <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">manageable<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enough to grasp, and (c) <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rehearsable<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enough to restate. (2) <\/span><b>Many proverbs are designed for specific occasions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They often present contradictory perspectives, with each proverb being correct in certain circumstances. (3) <\/span><b>Many proverbs address ultimate and not immediate truths<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Growing out of Israel\u2019s personal relationship with the living God and the covenantal context of blessing and curse, one of the principles that guides Israel\u2019s wisdom thinking is retribution theology (Prov. 26:27). While various proverbs offer truth claims, however, some of these truths are not apparent now but will be realized only in the future when God overcomes all evil and makes all things right\u2026 Proverbs that predict certain outcomes are not necessarily absolute promises <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the present age<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but they do express absolute, ultimate\u2014even eschatological\u2014truths that time will prove unless God intervenes for good or ill.\u201d<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"give_campaign_id":0,"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","_crdt_document":""},"class_list":["post-4642","reading-plan","type-reading-plan","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/am\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/reading-plan\/4642","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/am\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/reading-plan"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/am\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/reading-plan"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/handstotheplow.org\/am\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4642"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
