Recall that Jesus said that \u201cno one has ever seen God\u201d the Father except the Son (John 1:18; 6:46) but that \u201cwhoever has seen me has seen the Father\u201d (John 14:9). Similarly, Paul speaks of the Father as \u201cthe invisible God\u201d (Col. 1:15) \u201cwho dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see\u201d (1 Tim. 6:16). Minimally, this means that those who saw God in the Old Testament (e.g., Ex. 24:11; 33:11; Isa. 6:1) were enjoying preliminary and partial glimpses of his glory (Ex 33:18-23), at times through visions with figurative images (Dan.7:9-10).
