Phase 1 relates to Abraham fathering one nation with a kingdom centered in Canaan. Yahweh would fulfill this through the Mosaic cove\u00adnant after Egypt afflicted Israel four hundred years. God gave Canaan to Israel for the twelve tribes during the days of Joshua, but it was not until David and Solomon reigned that Israel\u2019s realm stretched from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates River (1 Kings 4:20\u201321). Phase 2 would occur when Abraham\u2019s representative would \u201cbless\u201d the \u201cclans\/families\u201d Yahweh dispersed (Gen. 12:2d\u20133). This would happen only when Abraham\u2019s offspring would perfectly obey\u2014something realized only through Abraham\u2019s ultimate offspring who blesses the world. Jesus does this through his perfect life of obedience culminating in his death and resurrection , by which he created the new cove\u00adnant community. \u201cThe Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, \u2018In you shall all the nations be blessed.\u2019 . . . In Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham . . .
