The \u201cstone\u201d that is rejected is Jesus. He is like a giant stone that should be used as the cornerstone of the temple. The \u201cbuilders\u201d are the Jewish leaders\u2014the ones who should be most interested in the building of God\u2019s true temple. But, rather than rejoice at the coming of Jesus, these builders \u201creject\u201d Jesus. They consider him unfit for use in God\u2019s true temple. But even though this \u201cstone\u201d is rejected by the Jewish leaders, God accepts him (\u201cthis was the Lord\u2019s doing\u201d) and the people (the true people of God) rejoice in his acceptance. They declare that \u201cit is marvelous in our eyes\u201d.
