All of the controversies involve the Jewish leaders questioning Jesus\u2019 actions and authority. See Mark 2:1\u201312, 2:13\u201317, 2:18\u201322, 2:23\u201328, and 3:1\u20136. At the conclusion of these controversies, the Pharisees decide to kill Jesus (see Mark 3:6).
