This is a sustained application of the old cove\u00adnant Sabbath command this side of the cross.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adapted from Jason DeRouchie,\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u1260\u1265\u1209\u12ed \u12aa\u12f3\u1295 \u1218\u12f0\u1230\u1275<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 262.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New Testament displays new cove\u00adnant curses as warnings against permanently falling away from Christ (i.e., apostasy) and against all who oppose God and his people (see Matt. 25:31\u201346). Those in Christ will not experience curse in a punitive way, for Christ bears upon himself God\u2019s curse against all believers. While Christians still experience the Lord\u2019s fatherly discipline, no level of earthly discipline or consequence calls into question the eternal security of any believer.
